Lynda Cashford and Jackie Hales formed a partnership in September 1991, developing a specialist behavioural service for adults with a learning disability and additional behaviours which challenge community services.

Their background within this field was mainly acquired from their Registered Nurse training within the Learning Disability field and their working lives within Maidstone Health Authorities Primary Care Trust (Learning Disabilities).

The first home for 5 people was opened in Chatham, moving people from long stay hospitals back into their originating catchment area.

Their Philosophy whilst developing this service was based upon the belief that an ordinary life could be provided for some of the most difficult to place.

Since 1991, we have developed four homes within both the Medway and Swale area. Within these four homes a total of 31 people live and 138 people work.
